  • Our collaborative work with Longaker Lab (Plastic Surgery) titled "Pharmacological rescue of diabetic skeletal stem cell niches" has been accepted for publication in Science Translational Medicine!
  • Tianyi's paper titled "Modulating stem cell-chondrocyte interactions for cartilage repair using combinatorial extracellular matrix-containing hydrogels" has been accepted for publication in "Journal of Materials Chemistry B".
  • Our collaborative work with Daldrup-Link lab (Radiology) on "Imaging stem cell transplant rejection with Ferumoxytol-MRI: Correlation of MRI findings with intravital microscopy" has been accepted for publication in Radiology.
  • Our collaborative work with Goodman lab (Orthopaedic Surgery) on "Mutant CCL2 protein coating mitigates wear particle-induced bone loss in a murine continuous polyethylene infusion model" has been accepted for publication in Biomaterials.

  • Christine's paper titled "The effect of matrix metalloproteinase-mediated matrix degradation on glioblastoma cell behavior in 3D PEG-based hydrogels" is published in Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A.
  • Tianyi's paper titled "Effects of hydrogel stiffness and extracellular compositions on modulating cartilage regeneration by mixed populations of stem cells and chondrocytes in vivo" is published in Tissue Engineering Part A.

  • Courtney Gegg has been selected to receive a Bio-X Bowes Graduate Student Fellowship. This highly competitive fellowship recognizes Courtney’s strong interdisciplinary and innovative approach for her Ph.D. thesis work, and shows the recipient's great potential for a successful future at the crossroads of biology, engineering, and other sciences.

  • Prof. Yang gave a Biomaterials Science Lectureship at the World Biomaterials Congress in Montreal, CA.
  • Prof. Yang received the Society for Biomaterials Young Investigator Award at the World Biomaterials Congress Award ceremony!
  • Tianyi Wang and Soah Lee have successfully passed their Ph.D. thesis defenses. Congratulations Tianyi and Soah!

  • Prof. Yang has been selected to receive the 2016 Biomaterials Science Lectureship Award! The Biomaterials Science Lectureship is an annual award that honours an early-stage career researcher for their significant contribution to the biomaterials field. The recipient is selected by the Biomaterials Science Editorial Board from a list of candidates nominated by the community.
  • Lorenzo’s paper on "Polymer-DNA nanoparticle induced CXCR4 overexpression improves stem cell engraftment and tissue regeneration in a mouse hindlimb ischemia model" has been accepted for publication in Theranostics. Congratulations Lorenzo!
  • Our collaborative work with Goodman group on "The Effect of Local IL-4 Delivery or CCL2 Blockade on Implant Fixation and Bone Structural Properties in a Mouse Model of Wear Particle Induced Osteolysis" has been accepted for publication in J Biomed Mater Res A.

  • Prof. Yang has been selected to receive the 2016 Society for Biomaterials Young Investigator Award. Society for Biomaterials is the world’s leading society in the field of Biomaterials. This prestigious award (one winner per year) recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievements in the field of biomaterials research.
  • Soah’s paper on "Aligned microribbon-like hydrogels for guiding three-dimensional smooth muscle regeneration" has been accepted for publication in J Biomed Mater Res A.
